FlyerJoin us for our celebration of National Model Aviation Day on Saturday, August 13, 2016 (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM). This is a family-friendly event open to the general public. Bring a chair and watch our members and visiting pilots perform flight demonstrations and learn more about radio controlled (R/C) model aviation as well as the Bend Aero Modelers.

The event features a broad range of R/C airplanes, scheduled flight demonstrations, open flying, raffle prizes, and food/beverages for purchase. Admission is free for spectators, AMA pilots pay a $10 landing fee. Onsite porta-potties, camping and RV parking are also available (sorry, no RV hookup available).

Our members are available to answer any questions and show you their airplanes. Spectators will have the opportunity to test their flying skills on a flight simulator and also fly with one of our instructors using a buddy-box training system. Badlands Sign 1Badlands Sign 2Flying Site

Our flying site is located off Highway 20 approximately 18 miles EAST of Bend at Horse Ridge near the Oregon Badlands. For detailed driving directions, please click here.

We will place "R/C Airshow" signs on Highway 20 near the turnoff to help you find our flying site. As long as you stay on Highway 20 and go EAST (not west) towards Burns, you will get to the turnoff after roughly 17.5 miles.

You will see the "Oregon Badlands" sign (if coming from Bend) and gravel piles on the left. Make a left turn and cross the cattle guard. Immediately after crossing the cattle guard, make a right turn and follow the dirt path along the gravel piles. Eventually (after 400 yards or so), you will reach the gravel parking area at our flying site.
